How Does the Respiratory System Respond to Exercise?

The respiratory system responds by increasing the heart rate during vigorous exercises. This is caused by the extra oxygen needed by the body muscles during an exercise. The lungs pull in air for the body to produce energy through metabolism, while the high heart rates supply blood throughout the body.
